On July 1, 2020 Governor Phil Murphy signed P.L. 2020, c. 44 (S-2273/A-20) into law. This law requires all school districts to offer a new plan - the New Jersey Educators' Health plan (NJEHP). This new plan comes with a premium contribution chart that is based on a percent of salary, rather than a percent of premium. All new employees hired on or after July 1, 2020 must participate in the NJEHP or the GSHP. Employees hired prior to July 1, 2020 have the right to move between the NJEHP, GSHP and their collectively bargained insurance plans during open enrollments offered at least once a year by their employer.
